review 1: I don't really know what to say about this book. I didn't love it, but I didn't hate it. It's about a 13 year old girl who can heal others, but at great expense to her own health. Everybody flocks to her small town and demands to be healed. Her dad even encourages her to do so even though it is perfectly clear that she suffers so much for her effort. Overall, there was a whole lot going on throughout the book, but I didn't feel strongly connected to any of the characters. I think I would have liked it much better if it had been written in first person.
review 2: Ava and Wash have been inseparable since they met at the Fall Festival when they were 6 years old. Seven years later, a tragedy at the Fall Festival changes their lives and the lives of countless o
... morethers forever. When the one-man airshow goes down in flames and Wash is fatally injured, Ava somehow heals him. With the whole thing caught on a cell-phone camera, the world has seen that Ava has the power to heal and now everyone wants something from her.It took a while for me to really get into this book and I didn't love it until the end, which also made me cry my eyes out, Ava and Wash are such wonderful characters, each with a maturity far beyond their years. It's the adults, most notably Ava's dad Macon, that seem to be lacking the strength and the wisdom contained in the two 13 year-old kids. less
