review 1: I kind of don't know what to say about this book. There is a ton of interesting information in it, and the author has clearly done his homework. I agree (basically) with what he's saying about the division between old and new horror. I don't disagree with his personal insights into the director's personalities. What bothered me was the writing style.. It felt like a high school essay on horror. He kept rehammering his point home again and again. Ok dude, I get it the first time.. I also personally don't think there has to be this huge difference between old and new horror. I love all horror at the same time. Also, the narrator of the audio was TERRIBLE... So that definitely took away from the overall book to me.
review 2: Wow! What a great narration
... more of how horror movies developed from the fertile soils of the minds of diverse people. The movies described and explained in the books were interesting choices because the author took time to dive into both personal and professional thoughts and lives of the movies' creators. I might not think deeper about the horror movies but that's really not the point. I think I understand my fascination with horror films in my fundamental human pleasures, twisted as they are! Fascinating and disturbing at the same time! less

Uno de los mejores libros sobre el cine de terror. Bien escrito, con muchos datos y muy ameno.

Fascinating read on some of my favorite horror movie directors of the 60's, 70's, and 80's.
