review 1: An intriguing story of fantasy, supernatural events, humans descended from angels, CIA/NSA plots, stones with mystic powers, people ascending into heaven, etc. Not a theme I would ordinarily consider but fortunately the book was a gift so I became exposed to this writer who has an exceptional imagination and the creative literary skill to create a very fascinating story. The fantasy is interwoven with actual historical events and characters, some dating back to Biblical (and earlier) times. In summary, a very enjoyable read.
review 2: If you like Steve Barry and Dan Brown, you'd probably like Javier Sierra. The Lost Angel is a very similar type book, full of hidden clues and other-worldly messages. Sierra includes just enough facts to make it sort of believab
... morele, but the premise is a bit out there. It was interesting to learn about all of the "great flood" legends of cultures from around the world and what scientists think really happened. In The Lost Angel, you're never quite sure who is the "bad guy" or the motives of all the characters, which adds to the mystique. The translator seemed to do a good job; it felt as if Sierra had written the book in English. But despite the length of the book (380 pages), the characters were a bit two dimensional and the dialog was predictable. I liked the book enough to read another Sierra novel, but didn't love it. less

Very good read, one of the better angel themed books out there.
