review 1: This was both heart wrenching and heart warming in equal parts. It bundles a lot of subjects into one story but what a story. I absolutely adore Nico - he is everything we should want from any human being. He shows an enormous amount of compassion and respect for the women that he helps. Whilst it is probably not everybody's idea of therapy, Nico allows the women who come to him for a special tattoo to unburden themselves and come they do. They have been to hell and back and chose to remember that. With them escaping domestic violence, rape, cancer and miscarriage, these are women with heart wrenching stories to tell. But while Nico is helping these women, there is something missing from his life and that is someone he can give his heart to. With his womanising ways... more getting old, he wants that one person who will take his breath away. Haunted still by the little girl called Dish that he held and comforted when he was a child after she held her mum's dead body, he doesn't think it's possible for him to find his soul mate, until Lark walks into his life. This is a guy who deserves true happiness and Lark is perfect for him. This was a beautiful story in every way and with a guy like Nico you can't help but fall in love with him and hope that he finds his happy ever after. With Lark you get a gracious and graceful strong woman but with a past of her own that she finds at times difficult to shake. I loved their journey together and how they can be themselves with each other. It was an awesome read.
review 2: Since Nico was mentioned in Inky and Cole books, I couldn't wait to read his story. He was such a great guy and I was desperately hope he found his one.Nico is all about Nico. Written in Nico POV, started almost 30% just about his life. His childhood, his past, his anguish, his burden, his "birds", all his. Then came Lark. As much as it pained me, I must said that she didn't win me at all. As heroine she felt short and I didn't connect with her. Didn't love her, not sure I even like her. Hence the book not 5 stars. The secondary characters was great. I enjoyed every scene featured my fave couple, Cole and Inky. Nico parents and fellow tattoo artist Zack played big role and most the humor came from them, which some the scenes made me laugh out loud. In the end. I more and more in love with Nico. Wishing for my own Nico. Sigh...PS : Nico and Lark was supposedly in their early forties, yet it sound like their were in mid twenties. Lack of maturity and feel NA-ish. less
