review 1: A surprisingly enjoyable read. I'm not any kind of a vampire fan. I have yet to watch Twilight which says it all I guess. I picked up this book because it promised some kick-butt, gun-blazing, blowing-sh** up action, not to mention some hot m-on-m romance. I thought I had made a mistake because the suffering hero spent the 1st few chapters sniffling and shriveling like a child, something I don't care for in my male heroes. But then, kaboom! He gets some Sanatore blood and he transforms into a blend of Superman-Professor X-type, hot & roaring alpha vamp and I am a happy reader!! Definitely not sappy although there are some sad parts. Lots of action, mystery and some powerful mind action throughout the book. It's not over though- there's a sequel so I may be a vampire fan... more yet!
review 2: My first thought when I finished this book? How long am I going to have to wait for the next one. While the majority of m/m paranormal stories have pretty much followed the same formula, this one was a fresh and interesting new take on a vampire society. I was pretty much caught up in the story and some of the twists and turns during the story I didn't see coming. All the characters introduced in this story were interesting and I look forward to finding out more about them. There seems to be different "types" of vampires and hopefully we get more. I don't know if I want to read about Tommy and Doc or Max and Justin in the next one, all of them I think will have interesting stories. I also hope we get to see more about Carson and what he can do. less
