review 1: I loved this book and cannot wait to read mire in the series. From the beginning to the end the story melded together the world of mortals and witches. Savannah was the perfect backdrop for the story. The Taylor family has many secrets and Mercy Taylor must learn to deal with them if she is going to survive. Her relationship with her family and the voodoo witch Jilo are all complicated to say the least. I personally cannot wait to see what happens next. review 2: Overall this book was entertaining and had some innovative ideas. But, I had some issues with it. I thought the romance was a bit unnecessary and frankly unbelievable. I feel like it was just there to motivate some plot points, but it didn't do it as well as it could have. I think that either it shoul... mored have been fleshed out more, or rewritten to not include it at all. I think the book might have been stronger with that fixed. There were some other issues on top of that, which was enough to lose points on an otherwise an enjoyable and interesting story. I may read the sequels. less
