review 1: I've had two boys check-out copies from library in the past two weeks,so I figured I had better read it, too. I'm anxious to hear their reviews.I found it amazing or possibly unbelievable that a city boy could survive for a year in the wild. I know that I couldn't have survived as Sam Gribley did. His knowledge of uses for the plant and animal life in the wilderness was amazing.Jean Craighead George created a wonderful conclusion for the story. The conflicts I had envisioned at the end didn't come to pass. I was so relieved to walk away from the end of the book without feeling a sense of loss.
review 2: `The book My Side of the Mountain is about a kid who lives in a small house in the city with his siblings. When he runs away everyone expects him back tomorrow
... more, but he doesn't return. He soon befriends a baby eagle and trains it to hunt for him, he also becomes friends with some other animals, whom live by near his new home. This book has a good plot and, an excellent storyline. This is one of my favorite books and the only book, other than Holes, that I have ever read more than once. This is a good book that I would recommend for anyone who likes fiction or adventure books. It is one of those books that you can’t seem to stop reading and put down. I would give this book a 5 out of 5, because of the plot and progression of the story line. less
