review 1: This sweet little book reminded me of just why I love animals, and find cats especially intriguing. The author does a wonderful job of telling the story of Rachet the stray cat who develops a special bond with a young foster boy Mike. Kids that have always wanted a pet but have been told they can't have one, will relate to Mike's desire to befriend this appealing tiger cat. Facts and information about the life cycle and behavior of animals flows as part of the story and kids will not only love the story but come away with an appreciation and larger understanding of the world around them. This book will appeal to boys and girls alike. Grades 3 and up.
review 2: I liked the realistic portrait of an outdoor cat's life. Strictly, she can't be called a feral cat,
... more because she feels she is connected by bonds of friendship with a boy. This female lives near a train station in the suburbs and hunts for herself. The most fascinating part is learning how a group of cats all interact with each other while living near each other. Due to the characterization of the boy as younger than the 14 years he is supposed to be, I gave the book three stars. less

Although well written this is not my kind of book, I have never been a fan of animal stories.
