review 1: I love reading historical fiction from this era. The transition from the Plantagents to the Tudors is one of the most intriguing in our history, i find. This book focus's on King Henry the 7th and his Lancaster Queen Elizabeth. I always wonder how she felt about marrying a man who would not have been King if her brothers had not disappeared from the tower. Jean Plaidy is one of my favorite authors of historical fiction and this book did not disappoint me.
review 2: It is hard for me to rate this book, as it definitely has its flaws, but I came to it expecting these and thus could quite easily overlook them. For I do not come to Jean Plaidy's books for their literary value, but for the concise, well researched, and easy to read history lesson that they give. A
... morend this book did give me what I was looking for...an understanding of what came before the well known story of Henry VIII, that being the story of his parents. As others have pointed out, it is rather repetitive at times, there is a lot of "telling" rather than "showing", the blurb on the back of the book promises a love story that really isn't present, and the edition that I read was filled with grammatical errors and typos. The first two of these complaints are common to Plaidy's books, largely because she wrote about 200 in her career (under several pseudonyms), not really taking the time to perfect them before moving on the next one. The other two are not her fault, but that of the publisher of the edition I read. I enjoyed this book, learned a lot, and really enjoyed reading Plaidy's explanation of what happened to the Princes in the Tower, which I find very plausible. I'm sure I will return to her writing soon for another quick and easy history lesson. less

Not amazing, but always an okay read and nice to sink into something a bit trashy sometimes.

I will save the review after I have read the complete Kindle Jean Plaidy Tudors Bundle.

I liked this book, but found it to be less than similar books by Phillippa Gregory.

This book was good, but I prefer to read nonfiction.
