review 1: If the infamous Gaulish pair could travel to everywhere else in the region, it was inevitable that they would have visited the Picts as well. We picked up this when we were in toberory, mulling a quiet day away, as a souvenir of our time in Scotland. It was written after the main series of books and replicates the main points of humour: banter within the village and puns (the authors plaid on words) Nessted amidst the plot lines which develop, although their punch does not seem as sharp as the original series. I was disappointed not to have grabbed the Scots language version, but the kids thought they'd not ken it. A nice memory of a wonderful place.

... moren the worst is still like chocolate chip cookies. No real bad stuff.Asterix and Obelix have to help out a Pict (ancient Scotsman) to rescue his love from marrying a bad rival chief who will sell out to the Romans! There's some good puns here, as usual, and I wonder now if that's why I'm always such a fan of puns? I grew up with them in these books. Also a great way to get kids to start reading. less
