review 1: I must say that I was pleasantly surprised by the Dorothy Martin murder/mysteries written by Jeanne M. Dams. Much along the line of Agatha Christie but Dorothy is an American residing in England who seems to be around ehrn quite a few murders occur (even on a return visit to America to claim an inheritance!) She is a widow who has settled in England after the death of her husband and then manages to land a handsome widower, Chief Constable Alan Nesbitt (whom she met at the scene of her first English murder) as her second husband. I enjoyed her so much that I tracked down copies of all the books and a;m anxiously awaiting the next one out soon. This book did not disappoint and, as all of her books are, the plot is great and well developed with plenty of good background re... moresearch and good supporting characters to add extra flavour and contrast. Thank you for many wonderful hours of reading.
review 2: When Dorothy Martin and her husband Alan Nesbitt, retired chief constable, discover a body near Buckingham Palace, they agree with their friend Jonathan to keep the identity a secret for a time. Jonathan, retired from Scotland Yard with a medal for heroism after being badly injured rescuing a child, is still in fragile shape, and eager to protect the mother of the dead person, who holds a sensitive job. When the police finally are told who the victim is, they forbid the trio from investigating, but Dorothy doesn't think their diktat applies to her. less
