review 1: After a bad war that causes a strain of influenza, that killed 2/3 of the population Stephen and his dad have to salvage just to get by. They follow the same path because there grandpa said it was the safest path. Stephen was more free minded when he was little but his grandpa changed him. Know he only follows by his grandpas rule's. When they are lead out of the path one day his dad gets hit in the head and goes into a coma. Stephen has to take care of his dad, but a community comes and takes them in. Stephen has to get comfortable with the new ways. He then meets a girl with a heated head named Jenny. They where both outsiders once and they sort of have a weird but good relationship. Stephen wants to learn how to read and learn new things, Jenny hates the place and wants... more to leave. Stephen wants to be with Jenny but the only thing keeping them is his father. So know its choosing between staying in a place that's like how things where or try and find a place better and leave his dad. This book has a lot of suspense and a lot of surprises that will keep you reading. This is why I would recommend this book to fans of dystopias novels or even people who like dramas. The book kept me interested from the first paragraph and every know and the I was shocked at the turn of events in it so I gave it a 5 star rating
review 2: The Eleventh Plague is not only a book about survival, but also a book about courage. In this story, a young boy named Stephen basically has to survive by himself until he finds a small town. In that small town he meets new people and kind of grows with those people instead of being separate. This book is a good read because Jeff Hirsch's writing is outstanding. Hirsch describes the world that Stephen is in outstandingly and while I was reading it, I felt as if I was in the post apocalyptic world with Stephen! Another big thing I like about this book is that every chapter always ends with a cliffhanger, making you want to read the next chapter! I was biting my nails through most of the book. This book successfully explains how one can survive on their own if they have courage and discipline. less
