review 1: I loved this story of a young professional woman in the world of fragrance and flavor. I learn so much about the subject as I watched her fall in love with the owner of an apple orchard. She started out looking for a new taste sensation and found out so much about herself as she falls in love with the owner of the orchard, his daughter and his life among the apple trees. Grace, the main character, has to face some difficult memories of her own and so does he as he faced the fact that his wife, who had dies two years earlier, was gone and that he needed to move on with his life. The book is rich with the flavors of the South, set in Georgia. The characters are very likable and I liked that the "voices" of the book switch back and forth between Grace and Dylan, the man ... morewith whom she falls in love. I have his other book next to may chair as we speak, FIREWORKS OVER TOCCOA.
review 2: This is absolutely one of the best books I've read in a long time. I learned so much about a sense I ignore unless it hits me in the face. The sense of smell goes so far beyond the familiar rose, fried chicken or freshly cut grass. Their are individual notes to everything. While I knew this on an intellectual level, I never paid attention to those finer notes. I hope I will be more cognizant about such things in the future. I'm not normally an observant peerson in many ways. This book has reminded me and encouraged me to try to change that. The plot is based on a woman perfumer looking for her life and a widower recovering from an untimely death and finding new love. I'll be searching for more books by this author! less
