review 1: This novel was just as cute as the other three I have read so far. The story of "Persuasion" is much more familiar to me than "Northanger Abbey", so I enjoyed the creative and new ways Jenni James altered the usual story. My one complaint is that the main character had some serious connection to her heart, because it would beat all kinds of crazy rhythms when she was around her man. Anyway, enjoy!
review 2: I like the concept of modern-day retellings of Jane Austen's books. But "Persuasion" doesn't work as a teen version, in my opinion, because it's just not believable that the main character was so deeply in love with her soulmate at age 14 or 15 when they were first parted. (In the original "Persuasion," Anne Elliot is 27, which is far more believable.)And th... moreere's so many discussions of "are you in love with her?" and "She's in love with me" when the characters have only met 2-3 times, at the most. It's not believable that a certain character would feel completely committed/obligated (for life) to another character (after a tragic accident) the way he does when they've only met a couple of times and haven't had the chance to form even a friendship, let alone supposed love, at least one on side. less
