review 1: loved Spike and Myka and their story. The unlikeliest of things can bring two people together that would most likely never have met if it were not for that one outside element. Jillian, the best friend to Myka, is dieing and before she dies she needs to let Spike know that their one-night stand gave him a son. Through Jillian, Spike and Myka meet and the rest is romance novel history. enjoyed the story.
review 2: I got this book as part of the Dark and Dangerous, Six-in-One Hot Paranormal Romances Boxed Set. This story is part of the Shifters Unbound series.Oh. My. God. I LOVED this story! And I have added all the others in this series to my list of books to read! Paranormal isn't my usual thing, but I'm willing to try em from time to time. A lot of the time ... moreI find them to be cheesy and just too weird for me. Not so with this story! I absolutely LOVED both Spike and Myka, pretty much instantly.Spike is a shifter and Myka is a human. Spike created a child with a human, Jillian, who was Myka's best friend. Spike didn't know his one night stand with Jillian resulted in a child, but when Jillian was hours from death, she summoned him to her and gave him their son. Spike is a jaguar and Myka had seen him fight a grizzly shifter. Myka's mom died when she was young and she was raised by her abusive stepfather. Seeing that Spike was a battle hardened warrior raised some major red flags for her and she was worried about him raising the little boy she'd grown to love like her own. Almost immediately, though, sparks fly between them. It doesn't take long for Spike to claim Myka as his mate. Spike is the best shifter fighter in Texas. No one ever messed with him. Now that he has a child and a mate, though, he has weaknesses and there are those in the shifter world who wouldn't mind exploiting those weaknesses in an effort to control Spike.I don't even now what to say about this story. I don't know the words to express just how much I enjoyed it! It was a TOTALLY sweet story. Spike is this uber tough guy who keeps himself tightly under control to downplay his strength and power in an attempt to not draw too much attention to himself. But inside, he's a big ole marshmallow. Myka is so strong and confident, she has to be since she's a horse trainer and horses can smell fear and weakness. And she's just so damn pure and good. Both of them have been so incredibly lonely virtually their entire lives. Gah! They just make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.Then there's the action - outside forces trying to use their bond against them. Action ALWAYS adds to a romantic story line, in my opinion. And there's the strength of the community and the loyalties that are tested. Incredible! I HIGHLY recommend this story and I can't wait to read all the rest in this series! Jordan, the little wild cat, steals the heart of his unknown father. Instant pride and love fill the self deprecating Spike when he meets his son for the first time. Myka, the human that loves and wants to protect her best friends child from more hurt and loss is along for the ride. This is a delightful book that stirs the heart. The characters touch the heart of the reader. As a mom, I know what spit fires can do to those not used to them. Jordan takes the cake, tempting fate as he’s learning about his new family. Myka loves Jordan, not only because of the loss of his mother, she genuinely cares for the boy, spirit and all. She’s very protective of the little one. Spike, learns that he’s a dad at Jordan’s mother’s death bed. The bond he feels with the child is instantaneous. Myka and Spike’s bond develops, but not just because of the child. They have more in common than one would think being human and shifter.This is a light read that is so carefully woven. You don’t want to put it down. I read it in one afternoon and was left wanting to know more about the characters, especially the trials of raising Jordan. I’m sure he’s going to be a handful!

Well, talk about your past coming around to smack you in the face !!!Poor Spike is a rough hidden gem. To many in this book he seems like someone to be scared of but once you get to know what kind of a person he is, you cant help but fall for his character.The book starts rocky with Myka not wanting to like him but willing to do anything to make her friend happy, as soon as that hurdle is overcome there is always another but Myka and Spike work together to make a hard situation work.I loved how the story had time to develop and by the end i knew what kind of person each character was. I also loved that Jillian played matchmaker on her death bed but couldn't help and feel she was a little selfish in keeping the secrets that she did. I though it even better that she saw who Spike was even when others didn't.A great read from start to finish.
