review 1: Calvin is a starling and ever since he was born he was always a little different from everyone in his family. As all of his brother and sisters started discovering different objects around but Calvin wasn’t really… all he was discovering were books. While all of Calvin’s cousins were learning how to search for bugs and insects Calvin was learning how to read letters, sentences, and words. While everyone was sleeping they would dream of insects and garbage picking but Calvin would dream of adventure stories and poetry. The next day when it was time for flying lessons Calvin was nowhere to be found but instead she was in the library reading. This is a great role model book for kids to read because it will help them realize how important reading is and how much fun read... moreing can be. Kids also need to know that they can learn so much new information from books that they might not have learned if they didn’t read about it.
review 2: I LOVE this book. Calvin is a starling who perfers to read and visit the library vs learning to fly. They have to migrate and his siblings tie ribbon to him and haul him alongside the flock. His learning pays off when he sees all the warning signs for a hurricane in the making. The flock hides in a cave then throw him a party in thanks for saving the day. I love that Calvin isn't treated poorly or teased because he is a bookworm. The other birds do tell him how important flying is. They love him so much that they tie ribbons to his little body so he can migrate too.Super sweet book with nice illustrations. My 4 year old loves it. I might have to buy a copy. less
