review 1: I read this in the combined wake of Riordan's The Red Pyramid and Donaldson's Blackmoore. I couldn't have planned it better. This book was a lot of fun. Combining Regency Society England with Egyptology and some spies and a tad of romance? This was a fun book. Well written, almost too exciting to be historically accurate (but really this was more of a 'suspension of disbelief' historical fiction book, bordering on fantasy) This was fun and exciting the way that Y.S. Lee's The Agency series tried to be. I thought that Agnes was very funny and a true character (who spouts Jane Austen Quotes in foreign languages when they are nervous?! Even I'm not that geeky, but that is THE coolest nervous habit ever. Seriously.) She was fun and strong and smart and a little bit less trappe... mored and more aware than most heroines in books set in this era are. Usually they are just hopeless, but she is a little angry about it, not just despairing. She knows what she wants. And she actually had a good relationship with her parents, which, and I'm no expert on the genre, but it seems a little under-represented, like most of the heroines don't get along with their crazy mothers or lock-in fathers. Anyway, I liked it. I thought the relationships were good and the plot and concept were fantastic, but it made it fun. A great Stand-alone read.
review 2: Wrapped was a charming, exciting, romantic, funny, mysterious thriller. It wasn't completely historically accurate but the author does tell you a little bit about what was accurate which I found interesting to read. Agnes is a spunky, smart character who is torn between adventure and budding love and duty and responsibility to her family. She finds herself tangled in a mystery and rumors of an ancient Egyptian curse are sweeping through town when those who were part of an “unwrapping party” and did help in the unwrapping are attacked. She’s sure there’s a perfectly human reason behind the suspicious attacks, she just needs a few friends and family to help her find out just what is going on. less

i loved parts of this and was annoyed by others. It did not feel very accurate, but it was very fun.
