review 1: I'm not really sure what to think of this book. It was a free book for my Kindle from Amazon, and it was a good story. It kept my attention, and I thought it was pretty well-written, despite a few grammatical errors, which tend to be common in books converted to Kindle format. (Especially if the book was published by a smaller publishing house or self-published.)There were two things I didn't like. The first was the contents of the second will. What was in there, exactly. I think they mentioned what all it was, but I didn't "get it". What did it mean for the characters in the story? How did that facilitate the ending of the book? The second thing, which really is just a personal thing, is that I like knowing the answers to mysteries a little before the protagonist knows th... moreem. We didn't find out anything beforehand, which I guess helped us feel the same things Meg was feeling, but then it made the mystery almost too drawn out for me. I almost lost interest in the book because everything felt like it took too long to figure out. I admit I took a break from the book for a day or two and almost forgot I was reading it.With that said, I'll give the book 3 to 3 1/2 stars. I liked it, but it niggled in a couple bad places with me.
review 2: I received this book free as a first reads winner. Even though it was given to me it was THE BEST book I have read recently. It made me think about families and adoption and how our lives may not turn out the way we thought. It made me think, cry and laugh. I really thought the story was a good one and it was about Michigan which is where I am from so it made it a bit more interesting knowing the places they were talking about. Meg was a very good person with a lot to deal with and some people can be so mean. It was also a fast read. I could not put it down. less
