review 1: Broad strokes talking about how the 'self' is viewed and studied by different fields. Each section is well-written and comprehensive in itself, but doesn't come together quite perfectly. Perhaps this merely reflects the gaping question mark that hangs over the many unsolved questions relating to the nature of the self.Would work for people without any background in neuroscience, or neuroscience aficionados. I'd read this one again.

(A note for those thinking they might be reading a "science" book, The book has lots and lots of citations, but none of them are linked to any particular research study in the text (you kind of have to figure out where the citation belongs in any given chapter), so its very difficult to evaluate the quality of the sources, not to mention almost all (all?) of the research cited is correlational research at best . . . ) less
