review 1: This book is maybe 75% cookbook, 25% memoir. It also gives a lot of great advice for prioritizing family dinners in the busy-ness of life. I liked how there was an emphasis on getting it "good enough," that a family dinner is a family dinner even if you're not all eating exactly the same thing or you're at a restaurant, or the best you could do that night was frozen pizza. The only recipe I've tried so far was for pork chops with mustard, apples, and onions, and it was fantastic and simple. Most (if not all) recipes are made up of "real food" and simple, healthy ingredients. Nothing really crazy or that takes a million steps or ingredients.
review 2: I absolutely loved this book and devoured it in 3 days. I may upgrade my rating to 5 stars once I try some of th
... moree recipes. It's part memoir, part cookbook, and part how-to/ coaching guide. Jenny's voice is so warm, witty, and down to earth. I felt like I wanted to be best friends with her and her husband Andy. Her honesty was so refreshing and I found myself laughing out loud (in commiseration) when she described her sleep deprivation as a new mother and her daughter's picky eating habits. It also gave me hope for a brighter future, haha. I think this book is wonderful for anyone in any stage of life, but probably most relevant to parents (of any aged children). Can't wait to try the salmon salad for dinner tonight! less
