review 1: A research vessel studying the Great Pacific Garbage Patch finds Island 731. Unit 731, Japan’s ruthless World War II human experimentation program has been taken over by DARPA, then taken over by the creatures created by the experimentation and it seems the creatures like to experiment to. It all makes for a very good read and a lot of action as the crew of the research vessel tries to get off the island alive.
review 2: This was like a B Movie. I considered stopping several times, but there was just enough horrific science fiction happening to keep me plugging along. And I don't even like science fiction. ... moree happily ever after kind of thing. Meh. The interesting part was the information about the human experimentation that took place in the book. True or not, it's horrific to imagine. The ending made me roll my eyes, but I stayed to the end, so who's the sucker? less

Good pacey action with echoes of H.G Wells Island Of Doctor Moreau.
