review 1: Light, quick, but admittedly forgettable mash-up of a ghost story, psychological drama and woman in jeopardy thriller. A former golden girl finds her life turned upside down after a traumatic mugging and is sent to a lakeside town to recover where she stumbles upon mysterious goings on. The character development is weak, and many of the plot lines don't add up. While I don't expect everything to be tied up neatly with a bow at the end of the story, there are several threads which are pushed in your face so much that you figure the author MUST have a reason for doing so, only to fall off the radar screen by the end of the book. However, there were a few unexpected twists, so the story wasn't totally predictable.
review 2: I picked this one up on the "New Arr
... moreivals" shelf at the library. I was pleasantly surprised at how into this book I got. I like the characters, the plot and the setting. It is a mystery but you get so invested in the story of the main character and her recovery from a traumatic attack that you don't get bothered by the "who done it" until she does. It was a quick read and really hard to put down. less
