review 1: I won this mystery book set in rural Iowa divided into two time periods. There are family secrets from the past that live on to the present time. The story is of two women , Hannah and Kate that marry into the Krause family not knowing exactly what lays ahead for them. The husbands of both women, Jacob and Joe Krause, die in a similar way, by a knife to their backs. Is history going to repeat itself? I thought the ending was good.
review 2: Story of two women, one in late 1890's and one in current times. Their lives are woven together through family ties and experiences. Story examines abusive relationships, both physical and mental. Kate is young bride, marrying to escape her domineering grandmother. Hannah is a farmer's wife, shielding her son from ph... moreysically abusive husband. Both husbands are murdered and both wives are accused. I did not like the character Will. Something about him just didn't sit right with me. I am not a big fan of mystery stories, but I enjoyed this book. less
