review 1: I came across this novel when I was looking at works by Scott Westerfeld and I am glad I did! It started a little bland. The prologue was a history lesson that would have been better shared through plot development. The story quickly improved though. I liked that the new society was built on the world we know so there was familiarity, but it was futuristic as well. There were some plot twists that I wasn't expecting like the purpose of the ORC and Ally and Stosh's differences. I am looking forward to reading the next installment and seeing where the story goes.
review 2: I feel like my three star rating was rather generous for this book. There were some grammatical issues that made reading it rather frustrating at times, the pacing was off, and lots of other me
... morechanical problems that others have mentioned in their reviews. However, here's the thing - the actual plot has real heart and that's what kept me reading. I think the author has that thing you can't teach, that story in her soul, if she can iron out the mechanics, she could be a force to be reckoned with! I'll keep reading to see how her style improves and where the story goes. less

The story was cool and interesting, but the writing style was lacking.

Once you get past the mediocre editing job, it's a pretty good book.
