review 1: A lovely, lovely book that achieves that almost-impossible goal of being hopeful and a bit heart-warming without being schmaltzy. The narrative plays with structure and timeline, jumping back and forth from the '60s to the present day, using various story-telling techniques like plays, movie pitches, straight-forward narrative, memoirs-and-novels-within-novels. It's an exploration of All Things Story. Loved it.
review 2: In the first few chapters it uses an Italian phrase to describe falling in love. The moment that lasts forever. A searing impression on your body mind and soul. ... morebook that tried to weave quite a few plots and contained a gem such as above. Another one, "what business does memory have with time?" I found these so insightful because somewhere in childhood someone plants a lie that when youre an adult you forget everything that happened years ago, and certainly at any level of detail. Though fiction, this theme helped me to explore the theme of time and memory in my own life and how if you rest too long on anything that was powerful it can come right back in full color and that is completely to be expected. It's just that its so disappointing when nothing current remains and that's all your left with and it can even be too much. Thank you. less
