Coco is the newest movie from Disney & Pixar and is a wonderful addition to the Pixar & Disney family. Miguel (newcomer Anthony Gonzalez) loves music despite his family’s baffling ban on music. Miguel dreams of becoming a successful musician like his idol, Ernesto de la Cruz (Benjamin Bratt). Desperate to prove his talent and love for music, Miguel finds himself in the stunning and colorful Land of the Dead following a series of mysterious chain of events. During this journey, Miguel meets a trickster named Hector (Gael Garcia Bernal) and together unlock the real story behind Miguel’s family history and why music has been forbidden.
Coco is a beautiful, heartfelt, and gorgeous animated movie. Pixar knows how to tell meaningful stories and it’s great to see a new culture represented. I love the entire cast is Latino and even speaks in Spanish at times. (That just makes sense!) The music was fun and catchy and enjoyed different versions of the song “Remember Me”. The last version towards the end of the movie, is the moment where I shed a few tears.
The animation is beyond impressive and striking! I can’t wait to buy this movie to watch it over and over again. Definitely, a new favorite and one of the best movies of 2017!
