review 1: “American Conspiracies” is a book that compiles famous American conspiracy theories such as the assassination of JFK or the supposed government involvement in 9/11, and has them analyzed by former Navy SEAL turned pro wrestler, turned action hero, turned governor, turned political critic, Jesse Ventura. Like the man or not, his commentary and analysis on these conspiracies is actually pretty well-thought out and researched; Ventura isn’t just nonsensically bashing the United States government for what he believes they may have done, but rather he’s making a critique and suggesting to his readers what they could do to take action against these things.Ventura’s writing is unapologetic and to-the-point, he doesn’t shy away from expressing how he feels about certai... moren things even if those things are very controversial, this could put off some readers but I saw it as something that really made the book interesting. If you’re a fan of historical nonfiction or things related to US politics, I would give “American Conspiracies” a try; it isn’t some looney rambling of how aliens built the pyramids, but rather a well-thought-out examination of conspiracy theories in the US.
review 2: This book seemed to be single minded throughout most of the read. The common theme of "the government is behind everything" is constantly implemented in the book. I am however a fan of conspiracies and to question historical events seemed to be to my liking. Asking the question of "why" or "what if" just seems to rolls off the tongue. I did enjoy how much evidence Ventura seemed to acquire. Many new facts came to light as I quickly rushed through this book. I do agree with some if his view points and opinions in the book but some of his suggestions seem to be not believable. Overall I think this book is a great read for an individual who enjoys any kind of conspiracies and when reading to keep an open mind. less
