review 1: I swayed between 3.5 and 4 stars. It is a nicely written story so I'll go with the 4.This as a nice story about James growing and finally finding what he was looking for. I loved Brick. He was so genuinely nice even when James was a jerk at times. This book had some of the best secondary characters that I've ever read. I could not get enough of Jerry and his interaction with Brick and James.The whole thing with Cory was way creepy. I could not believe James reaction to it all either. The main thing that didn't work for me was the romance or lack thereof. The two MCs don't get it on until the very end. I felt short-changed in the romance department. I mean, I really LOVE a slow building romance but I don't think that this story qualifies as such. James did not see Brick as ... moreanything but a friend; not ONCE did he even think that Brick was attractive until one day it all clicked in his head and voila he turns out to be the love of his life. All the off-page sex was also unsatisfying but I would have been OK with it if at least we have had more romance. Overall, a nice story by a talented writer.
review 2: this was such a truly amazingly remarkable story. beautiful, proportionally sweet, and not stereotypical. i like how the story flow. i really like brick and i like how the story try to thought us that we can't judge people from who they were once, but we should have been proud of who they've become. that nobody's perfect, so everybody make mistake and they have a right for forgiveness and a second chance. and the one with the biggest heart is the one who brave enough to forgive. less
