The Wives Of King David
review 1: My imagination had a field day with Smith's version of the story of Bathsheba and King David. She takes this classic biblical account and transforms it into an imaginative story. I enjoyed how deep she took the main characters. Granted, she left some minor details out but I couldn't complain. This tasteful version is also PG which makes it easily recommendable. Bathsheba is such an easy read and allows you to put yourself in either David or her shoes and gives room for empathy.
review 2: I truly didn't know what to expect from this book, but what a refreshing perspective into the story of David and Bathsheba. Smith tells the biblical account so well and adds some imagination between the lines. I enjoyed looking at David in a new light despite his mistakes. In t
... morehe end, he did want to see peace when his consequences of his sin with Bathsheba involved death. God is gracious to all his children and it is evident in the story of David. After reading this book, I read the entire account again in the Bible, and it was great comparing the two accounts. Smith did a wonderful job giving Bathsheba a role as a comforter to David. She had an important role to play in the line of David and what an amazing blessing that God used her. If you want to have refreshing story about redemption, love, grace, and hope, this is a great book to start with. Easy read and thoughtfully provoking. less
