review 1: This was a new genre for me. I'm loving Christian fiction. I purchased this book not realizing Ms. Smith had written others. I can't wait to read them. The research had to be difficult with wars, understanding the characters, the time period and the biblical research. Thank you for a wonderful book, Jill Eileen Smith! I'm inspired to go back to the bible and read David and Bathsheba's story again.
review 2: Reading a story about Bathsheba is not an easy one. Let's face it, you already know what's going to happen: adultery, murder, loss, betrayal... It really brings the face of sin right front and center, doesn't it? Still, it also becomes a story of grace, forgiveness, and mercy. ... mored up to the adultery a bit too sympathetically. I preferred Francine River's version in her Lineage of Grace series, but there were good moments in Smith's version too. less
