review 1: I loved the fascinating twists throughout the story. Needless to say, this story held a lot of surprises for me. It wasn't my favorite in the series, but you could tell that the author was working up to distinguishing who Jackie would end up with.Whereas in the first story there was no clear favorite, this story leaves hints all over the place that are kind of hard to ignore. Before the story was done, I knew exactly who she'd wind up with unless he did something to fuck up the progress.There was a lot of drama and time gaps in this story. I felt sorry for Jackie since she was being abandoned left and right by both her heroes. I would have liked to have seen more interaction between Jackie and Noah or Zane, but at the same time I realize that it's nice to see her on h... moreer own.My only problem was how little Noah seems to consider her needs when he does things. I realize that he's typically looking out for her overall interest, but it's hard to sympathize with him when he abandons her and then gets mad when she has to sleep with someone else to survive.
review 2: This is the second in Jill Myles' Succubi Diaries series and I'm pleased to report that it is as enjoyable, if not more so, than the first.It literally only takes a few pages before the action starts and then the heroine, Jackie Brighton finds out that she is cursed to have sex at increasingly regular intervals as opposed to the normal every two days. Given that succubi die if they go to long without sex this is not as great a situation as it sounds. And according to Remy, fellow New City succubus, porn star and Jackie's best friend and mentor, this happened to Victoria who starved to death in the middle of an orgy.Cue a trip to New Orleans to visit the oldest succubus in existence after a visit to a graveyard resulting in a deal made with a demon.So this book details the antics of two succubi as they go on a road trip across the States as they try to manage jealous vampire boyfriends, knocking people unconscious with a single touch and being stalked by what could be another fallen angel. If you've seen Dumb & Dumber this is more like Desperate & Dumber especially when Remy trades in her brand new Hummer. Not quite for a hair dryer with wheels but...well, poor Remy, who has her own inner demon problems is as dizzy as they come.Jill Myles has done a wonderful job combining humour and steamy love scenes whilst at the same time giving the story a sense of urgency with Jackie's race against time. less
