Succubus Diaries
review 1: I've had this one on my Kindle for a while and for some reason it just kept getting pushed to the back of the stack. It's a 1st person POV, paranormal/urban fantasy story of a woman being turned into a succubus. There's some love/sex interest, but not a clear path of romance. Jackie, as a new succubus, has certain morals about who she'll sleep with (unlike the other succubus she meets), but she's not very smart on her adventure. The tide of the story washed her up where she needed to be and she was just carried along for the ride. It was action packed and sort-of sexy, but I liked the story much more than the characters. I wished every minute that Jackie would have actually asked questions instead of following her assumptions and believing the last thing she heard and neve... morer thinking about anything else. There was some blood and guts, but I didn't feel drawn so deeply into the story that it got gory in my head. Also, for a succubus, she didn't have a lot of sex - there was quite a bit of sexual tension but very little release. I felt like it nearly veered into a moralistic, virgins-are-better, soap box sermon; but it also had her having sex with more than one guy so...an odd dichotomy to be sure. There was a bunch of talk about her powers as a succubus and half-formed reasons, but I felt very little of the backstory was fleshed out. She never took control of her powers, never really found out what most of them were, and half the time when someone tried to use their powers it didn't work because of an out clause.I might check out the next one in the series because I enjoyed the writing, but it wouldn't be my go-to if I'm looking for a romance. It's a good lighthearted, slightly funny, urban fantasy with some unattached sexy-times, but also leaves you a little dizzy with the amount of lack.
review 2: I love this series. it drew me in and held me to the end, and was one I was happy to have discovered AFTER the full set had been released, because I was able to read it straight through. The heroine is intelligent, quirky, brave despite herself, and over the top about love. Like so many real life heroines, she needs to be needed, but remains strong enough to avoid codependency. Add a world filled with inhumanly beautiful people, where the lines between good and evil are often blurred, and you have my desire to find out even more. I only hope that, as more people, like me, discover the series and fall in love, Jill will revisit the decision to end it. I want to know Sophie and Noah's story, Caleb's story, Luc's . . . and I wouldn't mind it one bit if those stories also kept us updated about Jackie and Remi. less

Never read a book with such a dumb protagonist but it has some nice ideas

Funny premise. Lots of steamy sex and snarky fun. =)
