Lord Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane
review 1: I am always leary of authors who set out to write about characters another author created. I must say that Ms Walsh did an excellent job with Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane. The mystery takes us to one of our favorite settings, Oxford. Peter in his capacity as a Visitor, must cast the deciding vote regarding the sale of a precious artifact. The St Severin Dons are at odds over the sale, some wish to keep the ancient manuscript while others want to sell the book to purchase land as an investment. Unfortunately some of the dons begin to meet with mayhem and death. Apparently the murderer wants to make sure the vote on the artifact goes his way! The Wimseys with the help of faithful butler, Bunter, untangle the threads of deceit and treachery.
review 2: I'm shock
... moreed at the good reviews this book is getting. Each of the author's books has gotten worse, and this one is more like a parody than a sequel. I cannot imagine why the estate of Dorothy Sayers is allowing this series to damage the reputation of one of the all time great mystery writers. Anyone who has read and loved Gaudy Night should be distressed at this ugly attempt to cash in on Ms Sayers very careful writing. less

I didn't like it as well as Paton Walsh's other Peter Wimsey/Harriet Vane mysteries.

A very enjoyable murder mystery with Wimsey and Harriet in the best tradition.
