Lord Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane
review 1: Oh a perfect bit of undemanding cosy crime. Jill Paton Walsh's Wimsey/Vane novels are beautifully plotted and feel historically accurate. Arguably in some ways better than later DLS novels where her love for lord Peter was rather too apparent. Anyway this book is a nice retrospective - partly told as a flashback story 1950s/1920s and has fabulous jewels, a daring theft, a collection of corpses and a maharajah. Recommended
review 2: This is a completion of a Peter Whimsey novel that Dorothy L. Sayers left with her agent. Jill Paton Walsh does a superb job of completing the novel because having read all of Dorothy L. Sayers previous books I would be hard pressed to see any great difference in style, which is not something I can say for most follow-up novels. The
... morestory wraps up beautifully. This is a keeper for me. I recommend it. less
