Hetta Coffey Mystery
review 1: I think that this was a free ebook.I really enjoyed the voice and the strong presence of the San Francisco Bay Area as the backdrop. There was a very good plot, although some of the characters actions were not too difficult to figure out. However, others were very well disguised.I have Just Add Salt in my ebook queue, but am reading another author to cleanse my reading palette.I look forward to more adventures on the Bay.
review 2: This book, JUST ADD WATER, is first in the Hetta Coffey mystery series. I read this in the Kindle version, which takes me a bit longer, sometimes. It took me a little while to get to know Hetta and her friends and family, but I found that time well spent. Hetta is an engineer, and she and her friend, Jan, decide yachting would be a
... moregood way to meet men. Their plan works out, and after some deliberation, Hetta sells her home in Oakland to live full time on a yacht, which she snags at a very favorable price.Hetta is independent and smart. She comes from a stalwart Texas family, and she has some wonderful friends. She’s a lot of fun to get to know. Through Hetta’s yachting exercises, she makes some wonderful friends and even opens herself to love. Watching her mature from the sidelines was satisfactory, as well.Maybe it’s because I read this one so slowly, but I didn’t figure out the whodunit until Hetta explained it to me (but the murder victim was so despicable I didn’t even really care). There’s a lot of detail about boating that is lost on me, and the boat and yacht expertise expended probably contributed to why it took me an inordinate amount of time to get through it. But I get it – Hetta is an amazing woman and she has a lot to be proud of in her achievement of becoming a proficient yacht owner & operator.I like Hetta, and I’m ready to dive into the next in the series. less
