review 1: He's caught in a bad situation that threatens the future of his line. She's a strong and independent woman who abhors marriage after living through the disastrous union of her parents. Both find that they must compromise and as their nominal marriage proceeds, both find that not only is friendship possible but there are unexplored future possibilities between them. It's a find example of Jo Beverley's excellent writing with characters who are feisty and independent, whose lot in life may be very different from that of contemporary readers, but whose creativity in meeting life's challenges makes this another entertaining and engaging read.

SIS has all the necessary elements for a compelling story: a determined, selfless heroine in Claris; a wealthy, desperate man in Perry; an inheritance; a tragic curse and a family mystery. Each separate thread is interesting and has potential. They just never gel into an exciting blend.Seduction In Silk is worth reading because J.B. is a talented author and readers get some updates on a few characters from earlier titles. less
