review 1: Oh my goodness, I really enjoy reading historical romances, but this book was -so- long. I could barely get through it and there's only so many times that one can read about a man worrying about a woman accepting him because he is a duke, and a woman wondering about a man who is the half brother to a stuffy duke.It was a fairly enjoyable read.. the plot wasn't too intriguing and it barely had any twists and turns.
review 2: I’ve been less and less satisfied with Beverley with each successive book; I had some hopes at first that this one might be a streak-breaker, but I’m now at the halfway mark with no inclination to finish it. The meandering plot feels to me like the author wrote several scenes using her favorite devices -- masks/disguises/masquerade bal
... morels--and then wrote the rest of the book around them, squeezing the scenes in any way she could. Consequently there are multiple plotlines, but not one that compels me to keep reading to find out how it ends. less

Meh. Predictable plot. Heroine was either flighty or poorly written. I'm surprised I finished it.
