review 1: Definitely enjoyed this, but the narration could have been better. It didn't detract and that's my number one nit-pick. I enjoyed the blend of the reveals from both parties, this was the key to the enjoyment. It wasn't a rescue but more of a coming together each fulfilling a need. Our girl was quite brave and more resourceful than you'd have thought. Our hero was a boy bred bad but somehow has more good in him than you'd expect. It was a multi-layered western set in the late 1800's and wasn't your run of the mill mail order bride, almost the furthest from it. The mail order just allowed the story to be more complex.
review 2: Very enjoyable romance, well-written (for what it is - I liked how laconic it was throughout), witty, and I liked that the couple
... morefell in love over a longer period than sometimes happens in these kind of books. The only quibble I have is that a secondary character was both married and worked as a school teacher; this would never have happened back then as she would have been fired the moment she married. less

A satisfying romantic story. It was a good by-the-pool read.
