Heroines Behind the Lines: Civil War
review 1: I don't live in the USA so my thoughts won't be on any side of any conflict that has happened in the states. I just watched the movie "The Butler" on the weekend and that spanned recent 60 yrs n I think those conflicts for people in this story is still very much alive. I do recall reading about Ruby in a earlier book. For both families to end up in Iowa for new beginnings must have been the best answer who lived in the conflict. To have your food, horses, shoes taken of you for the war effort. I am glad small pox is not a problem anymore. I thought that interesting about the newspapers in Richmond n Atlanta putting messages from families to find missing members. I think the story well written n researched. You got to see n feel the starvation n desperation of people n thei... morer thoughts n anquish.
review 2: 'Yankee in Atlanta' by Jocelyn Green continues the hard to put down series 'Heroines Behind the Lines.' 'Yankee' boasts Green's imagination flexing a bit to bring in character's we've met in previous books, intwining lives we care about. Her historical sense and moral compass bring deeper issues to light that give this story a literary quality. Worth every 5 stars I can give it. Can't wait to read more from Jocelyn Green! less
