review 1: When a Dragon Moves In (Kindergarten-2nd grade students)What would happen if you built a perfect sandcastle? Well, a dragon would move in, of course! Dragons are good at lots of things; they protect your sand castle from bullies, perfectly roast marshmallows with their fire breath, and can take you swimming in the ocean. But dragons are also quite mischievous and may make you get in trouble. When you try to explain that this mischievous behavior was not actually your fault, will anyone believe that you have a dragon living in your sandcastle? Class activity: Does the little boy really have a dragon living in his castle, or is it just his imagination? Have the students rewrite the story from the point of view of the sister. Does she ever see the dragon? How does she feel wh... moreen all of her sandwiches get eaten or when she gets kicked with sand? Does she ever get to play with the dragon herself?Moore, J., & McWilliam, H. (2011). When a Dragon Moves In. Brooklyn, NY: Flashlight Press.
review 2: A boy builds the perfect sandcastle and a dragon moves into his sandcastle. At first the little boy enjoys his dragon because they do fun things. Then the boy starts getting into trouble because of the dragon. Nobody in his family believes the boy about the dragon that is living in his sandcastle. This book reminded me of "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie," because it is the same circular type of story. The imaginative student would really enjoy this book. Students will be able to connect with this story if they have a difficulty getting people to believe them. less

I didn't care much for the opening but the rest of the story was clever and dear.
