review 1: The creepy and the "Oh, that just ain't right" moments in this graphic novel were spot on! I had the most fun reading this, and enjoyed each and every creepy moment. The art is perfect to go along with this tale of horror, and the writing was just outstanding. The pacing was great, the surprises and the horror elements were just enough, and the unexpected humor and even tenderness was what tied this all up in a bloodstained little Christmas package.
review 2: Fantastic horror story! I have not read N0S4A2 and this supposedly is about a character from that book. No worries, I was able to jump right in and comprehend everything. A really creepy story. Evil children often make for a good horror story but only a great writer like Hill can pull it off so well tha
... moret we don't really know how to feel for them in the end. We first meet them as evil, find out they were victims, gaining sympathy ... but then they are so evil. Hill's father gave us a fright with clowns and now amusement parks can be added to that list of terrifying childhood images. A particularly fascinating use of the graphic novel here is put into action also. The story is told over several issues and then ends with an illustrated short story taking us back through the life of another character and how he passed along throughout the main story, ultimately being the real antagonist of the vicious circle. Absolutely loved this! Art was scary, creepy too and very much reminded me of Maurice Sendak during his monster period. Sendak's monsters really only need a few tweaks to change from cute to creepy and Charles Wilson has found the muse to take his art to just the right place. Awesome! less
