review 1: I won a copy of Dangerous Personalities, by Joe Navarro as part of the Goodreads First Reads giveaway program.Navarro achieves his objectives for writing the book. He spent his career as a criminal profiler for the FBI and compiled some essential information about dangerous people into a pithy book. It is created as a field guide for helping to identify people who may wear you down at a minimum to being potentially deadly at the most extreme. This guide is helpful when you get that "uh-oh" feeling about a date, a co-worker, or even worse, a family member or spouse. The author helps you confirm your suspicions by providing some descriptions and examples of each personality type. There is a page of descriptors for each personality. Especially helpful are the multiple-p... moreage checklists where you can assess the scale of the problem of the person you are dealing with. Navarro also gives practical advice and contact information for helpful agencies that could assist you further. Dangerous personalities don't always appear in the headlines and in the evening news. Most live among us. Once a reader has the personality assessed, then he or she could do further reading and information gathering about a particular personality type, or combination of types. I plan on keeping this book to give to my 10-year-old daughter when she is older.
review 2: Just to let you know, I received this book through Goodreads First Reads program. I'm so glad I received this book. I plan to buy copies to give to family members. This is well written and easy to read. It is not technical but easy for everybody to understand these dangerous personalities. He gives examples and points out the traits of the criminals as a learning tool to help a person start to spot toxic dangerous people. There are checklist for you to use as well as suggestions on how to protect yourself and others.Joe Navarro also gives additional resources if you need it or want to read more about dangerous personalities. This book would be a good resource for young adults, business management/employees, everyone. We all need to watch out for and protect ourselves from people who cause us misery. Life is too short to put up with toxic people! Especially those who go really off the deep end and kill us.GET THIS BOOK!!! less
