review 1: As a hard-core Narnian fan (I read all seven books to my children every summer for years, not to mention nieces, nephews, and students.) I couldn't wait to plunge into this book and learn how to "Live like a Narnian." The moment I started reading I got "that Narnian feeling," which one gets from breathing Narnian air, with all the references to characters and events in the Chronicles, exploring the ways in which we can apply the lessons learned to our own lives. Joe Rigney does a beautiful job in conveying C. S. Lewis's classic wisdom in matters such as pleasure, authority, humility, freedom, courage, ideal masculinity and femininity, deception, and transcending what meets the eye, in chapters with marvelous titles such as "The Lost Art of Chivalry," "The Witch's War o... moren Joy," "The Heart of the Laughing King," "The Glory of a Narnian Queen," and (my personal favorite) "Breaking Enchantments with Burnt Marshwiggle." My only disappointment was that Rigney didn't write more chapters, which he clearly could have done, since he included an epilogue,"More Narnian Hills to Explore," a list of more insights to be explored, which "Someone should write a book about." (This epilogue comes just before a brief Q & A with the author, an interview conducted by Tumnus the Faun. - Such fun!!!) As expected, these books made me want to read all the Chronicles of Narnia again, but my grandchildren aren't quite ready. Pretty soon, though...
review 2: Rigney captures the lessons that Lewis teaches in The Chronicles of Narnia without taking away from the magic and mystery of the stories. He helps the reader understand why they love Narnia, and how to live as much like a Narnian in this world as is possible. His thoughts left me feeling discipled, refreshed, and desiring to know Aslan better in that world, so that I might know Jesus better in this one. less

This is a great read. Brought up some parallels with worldview issues that I hadn't seen.
