review 1: Whoa. This book is pretty good. This novel has a very nice build-up to the climax and I was hooked pretty early into the story. I thought some of the first paragraph was lame but not lame enough to dissuade me from reading on. There are snippets of the main character talking directly to you which I thought were unnecessary and kind of weird but aren't a good reason to not read this book because some people like that kind of stuff. Profanity-wise, this book was a little iffy and not very consistent: there were a few major curses and some curses that were starred out apparently at random. Sex-wise, this book was pretty darn clean besides the main character admitting some suggestive thoughts and a scene that seemed like it was going somewhere before the author made sure you k... morenew that it wasn't. The ending was the kind that left you wanting a sequel or more wrap-up but also left you satisfied enough with what you got. Overall, this book was intense, romantic, interesting, unique, captivating and I highly recommend it.
review 2: Looking forward to seeing more from this author. Become Shadow was a quick, riveting read - it took me just two days to read it. I particularly liked the first person narrative... Ren is an intensely likable protagonist, and I found myself really invested in her story. I'm fairly certain this will be a very popular YA read this summer - some savvy movie producer better snap up the film rights quick! less
