review 1: I love books about books, so this story is a natural choice for me to like. And I did like it, but just not A LOT. There's a distance between the narrator and the reader, which has a lot to do with Connolly's style, and that kept me from connecting more with the character. Still, this is a place I'd like to explore further -- and I do believe Connolly has some additional short stories (and maybe even a novel?) about this museum. :)
review 2: This is a wonderful story. Very short, completely satisfying. It's the first writing from John Connolly I've read. I was lucky enough to be present for a talk he gave about Crime Writing at the Sydney Writers' Festival 2014. I was so impressed by his wide ranging comprehensive knowledge that I wanted to read his work. I've ... moreput a couple of his books on my To Be Read List, I think I'm in for a treat. less
