review 1: I like the general message of this book. I don't think he is a great writer. And I don't get too inspired by his stories of fly fishing and mountain climbing (just not my cup of tea). I am bothered by 5 or 6 of his comments related to masculinity (’God strengthening us, healing us, is a distinctly masculine venture;" ”never letting your boy play with weapons is emasculating"). But overall the main point is good: there are stages of a man's development and in each he has something to learn and needs to engage instead of just checking out.

You'll find yourself somewhere along this conti... morenuim, and you may recognize you have had at least one of these steps excised from your story...yet each step is important in becoming the full man God intend. Eldredge is helping us put those forgotten peocs back into our stories. less
