review 1: This one didn't make the WAW nominee cut. It was ok, but borderline for me. I finished it after we voted on the list for next year. It was about Lexi and Kevin who go to spend their summer in New York with their aunt while their dad is honeymooning with their new stepmom. Lexi overhears a plot to bury stolen jewels so she and Kevin and a neighbor try to find the jewels and solve the crime. It was ok, but not as good as many on our new list.
review 2: I was fortunate enough to win the book through Goodreads first reads. When reading this book I had to keep in mind that the targeted audience was a middle schooler, not a grown woman with 2 children. I did give it to my 9 year old to read but it didn't quite grab him.I liked the premise of the story...stolen Cle
... moreopatra jewels and a child who may or may not have information on who the culprits may be.When reading the book I tried to put my brain in middle schooler mode. This being said, yes, it's exciting, the kids are brave and smart and eventually solve the crime. The story is an easy read with a plot that is easy to follow. less

This was an alright book, but Lexi and Kim were just a little much for me most of the time.
