review 1: A Higher Court is a thought-provoking story of a trial lawyer who is having some difficulty dealing with the death of his father, an event that causes him to question his faith. He receives a notification of jury duty and finds himself assigned to a trial in which the question is "Is God Real?" As the jury listens to impelling evidence from scientists, theologians, and philosophers, as well as poignant testimony from individuals who either believe or disbelieve in God, the reader is plunged into the controversy along with the jury members who will be required to decide the verdict. It's a great book, a quick read, and highly recommended.
review 2: As I began reading this book, the story caught my attention. William Kensey, the main character and a trial lawy
... moreer, is dealing with his faith over the death of his father. Shortly after the funeral he is summoned to a trial that puts the existence of God on trial...does God exist or not? There are so many people nowadays that lack faith or need their faith recharged and this book gave some perspective on dealing with everyday situations that cause individuals to mistrust their own judgment in their spiritual faith. Betcher creates a story of a trial unlike anything anyone has ever been a part of before. In A Higher Court, a diverse group of people were introduced to serve as jurors and different faiths were discussed. Witnesses for both sides gave their expert opinions in the areas of science versus God, evolution versus creation, and it was a challenging and informative book. I would recommend reading A Higher Court by John L. Betcher. less

This was an amazing book. There is a twist at the end that I didn't see coming.
