Inspector Troy
review 1: This excellent book in the Inspector Troy series is in many ways more of a pure historical novel than a detective thriller. Ranging from pre-war Vienna to Auschwitz to Los Alamos to London the story embraces inter alia the genocide of the Jews, the horrors of the Nazis, the recruitment of Spies by Communist Russia, and the philosopy of the post-war Labour government. Peopled by many fascinating characters this is a very good read.
review 2: Austria 1934, and a young girl Meret Imre, a talented cellist living in Vienna, takes lessons with Viktor Rosen a world famous pianist. She later joins the Viennese Youth Orchestra. The novel revolves around the fortunes of Austrians living through WWII, some refugees in England, others, like Meret landing up in a concentra
... moretion camp. Troy investigates when Rosen commits suicide. This is a moving story of friendship, loyalty and betrayal. Troy is at his best. less
