review 1: Really wasn't excited about this book at the start - and it didn't get much better. I can understand why my professors will assign it, but the arguments are those that have been in the milieu my entire life. The line between the real and digital world is less opaque than many digital immigrants believe, and the most redeeming point of this book was the discussion of the way that digital natives view (or don't view) this line vs. the way that everyone else sees it.
review 2: Perhaps I expected too much from this book. As a graduate student, I was hoping for an exploration of adolescent development but this book lacked the depth I'd hoped for. Still it has some valuable information for parents and educators alike. To reiterate a fellow reviewer, since the author
... more(and his editors!)incorrectly attributed the creation of the Dewey decimal system to John Dewey (rather than Melville), it automatically lost a couple stars. less
